Hi guys,
I have gotten four out of the five books I ordered online and I was going ot start reading them and was wondering if I should start with chapter one? Does any of the second year students remember what they started the first year off with. I know that it is kinda early but I thought I could get a little bit of knowledge under my belt! Thanks,
Jill Hershey

If I were you, I would look over the skills portions for basic patient care. Anything a STNA would do, that is what we focused on the first 2 weeks of class.
Concepts I would focus on the theories, Florence Nightingale, and Mary Seacole.
I would go through the chapters on the nursing process. You need to really understand this concept and then build your knowldege base from there.
Sometime at the meeting I must have missed getting the names of the books we need, and the ISBN numbers. Can someone post them so I can start buying books? Thanks!
Looking at our old syllabus we started with safety, asepsis, body mechanics and chapter 1 in nutrition. That was week 1. Week 2 we did ambulation, bedmaking, hygiene, vital signs, admitting/transfer clients. Hope that helps. In Concepts we went straight through the book omitting some chapters. i can give you that information too if you wish.
