Community Service

The SNA still needs to do a community service project for the month of February.  One idea is to put together care packages for active service members who are currently deployed overseas.  We will be voting on this in class.

Dori Dalton does NOT need help at the AA meetings.  The email she sent out was requesting individuals who need to attend AA, not volunteers.  This has been removed from the blog.

Charity

One idea for this semester’s charity was pitched by Transitions Student Rep, Sherri Fitzgerald.  Patti will be making copies of info to distribute about a charity to help children with HLH (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis), a deadly childhood disease.

Fundraiser – 5k Run/Walk

Medals will be $2.50 each.  The SNA is requesting funds from the student government to help cover the costs of hosting the run/walk; Amanda Clymer is writing the letter required to request these funds.  Dylan Adkins is working on the t-shirts.  The SNA is uniting with the Sandusky County Health Department’s “Sandusky County GO!” program.  The Health Dept. will advertise for us and we will punch their participant’s GO! Cards for running/walking the race.  Heath Martin has approved our use of a large board for participant photos.  Registration forms are currently being printed at the print shop.  We need to find out how much it will cost to supply small cartons/bottles of chocolate milk to the runners.  Phi Theta Kappa will host a bake sale at the run/walk.  We hope that the Medical Assisting Students will volunteer to help with the registration table.

Class reps should poll their classes to see how many people plan on running/walking and how many plan on volunteering at the event.  We especially need volunteers to man the route and make sure the runners are staying on course.

T-shirts

T-shirt order forms are currently being printed at the print shop.

Treasurer’s Report

There have been some discrepancies since last month’s report, as there were expenses from last semester that had not yet been cleared.  The current balance of the SNA account is $441.87.

Report from the SNA Student Senator, Melissa Rimboch

Student Government will be meeting next Monday, February 17.  This is when they will be voting on our request of funds.

Registrations are currently being accepted for students who want to run for student government (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, or Senator at Large).  These positions last from April 2014 to April 2015 and come with a $500 scholarship.  Melissa Rimboch has the form if anyone is interested.  They are due February 14.  In addition, she will be looking for a nursing student to take her place as Nursing Student Senator next month.  This is also a year-long commitment.

Other Info

Applications are currently being accepted for the Student Club/Organization of the Year Award.  Nomination requires that someone from the organization write a letter to submit with the application.  The winning organization will receive $250 and recognition.  Amanda Clymer will work on the essay, which is due February 28.
