TCC Student Nursing Association Meeting Minutes

Meeting on April 3rd, 2012 at 11am in B103.
Welcome/introductions- Shannon welcomed students. Introduction of officers. 16 students were present. Great turnout!

Nami Donation- Joe (treasurer) discussed the NAMI donation of $150 (as previously voted yes at last meeting) will be coming out of the general fund. This will not affect student funds. Shannon explained what NAMI is; (non profit organization) to help individuals and families with mental illness. The donation will be from TSCC SNA would stressed it would be beneficial to us to attend the walk to put individual names behind the donation. If no one signs up for it (sign up sheet is outside lab) the donation will be from the SNA.

Faculty present- Students did not have questions or concerns for the faculty. Mrs. Kajfasz announced she will be coming to Medsurg 2 soon for students to pick out preceptor locations. Mrs. Ferguson will be with her classes to pick out clinical sites.

College Visit in May- Nicole (Vice- President) discussed CHamberlain College will be available for those students interested in the RN-BSN degree and its benefits. It is an online program. If interested please email Nicole Sutherland at nsutherland001@terra.edu

Volunteer Opportunity- NAMI walk is on April 28th at Conner Park in Fremont. SIgn up sheet is outside of lab for those going.
Sunday April 15th from 1-2 pm We will be doing trash pickup on Napoleon St. From the stop sign on Brush St to the highway. This is a great community involvement. Participation is encouraged. Once you pull into Terra, turn Left and park in the first parking lot. Everyone will meet there to sign in and get vests/gloves/trash bags.
There is no information about volunteering for Mammogram Screening.

Announcement of Next semester officers- The new officers will be President- Colleen Schill, Vice-President Lucas Shammo, Secretary- Iris Gutierrez, Treasurer- Sarah Howard. Congratulations to the new officers.

The last meeting we will be having the new officers run the meeting. Also this day we will be having Mary Ann Schleming from Chamberlain so notify Nicole S if you will be attending.

Student Concern addressed regarding Terra Blog. It was suggested that once you access terra's blog, you save it under favorites so that you won't have an issue with the website next time.
Student Concern discussed regarding Professionalism. It is vital that students maintain professionalism in all areas (in hallway, clinical sites, classroom, study room). You represent Terra. While you are at clinical, they could be your future employer and your behavior may impact whether or not they hire you in the future.
Meeting ended with distribution of shirt orders at 11:20 a.m.
