Meeting Minutes
Monday August 29th, 2011 & Tuesday August 30th, 2011
· Total in Attendance Monday, August 29th: 23 Student Nurses
· Total in Attendance Tuesday, August 30th: 25 Student Nurses and 4 Nursing Faculty Members
· Meeting Minutes recorded by Secretary of the TSCCNA: Sarah Heidl
1100:
-Attendance sheets passed around meeting room, along with information regarding use of TSCCSNA nursing blog, copy of TSCCSNA constitution, and drawing slips for NCLEX review book/Nursing bracelet raffles.
**Extra copies regarding use of TSCCNA nursing blog or copy of constitution available for reference.
-Meeting called to order by TSCCSNA President, who introduced herself as 4th semester student, Angie Hoppes. The president explained that all students in the Nursing Program are automatically members of the TSCCSNA. Those in attendance were welcomed and thanked for attending.
-TSCCSNA officers introduced themselves and specified positions:
Vice President: 4th semester student, Kelly Baker
Treasurer: 4th semester student, Sabrina Marshall
Secretary: 4th semester student, Sarah Heidl
Old Business:
· President, Angie Hoppes opened discussion for any Old Business to be addressed, to which there wasn’t any, the meeting was then moved to address New Business.
New Business:
T-Shirt Orders:
-addressed by Treasurer, Sabrina Marshall.
· T-Shirt and Sweatshirt order forms along with a flyer regarding prices and style selection were handed out and explained during the nursing lecture of each semester level in the nursing program.
o T-Shirt price: $5.00 available with nursing logo/writing in blue or pink
o Sweatshirt price: $13.00 available with nursing logo/writing in blue or pink
o Sizes for both T-Shirt and Sweatshirt include Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, 2X & 3X.
o Order forms and Money due to Sabrina Marshall, treasurer by September 19th at TSCCSNA meeting—cash or check accepted, checks made out to Sabrina Marshall.
· A flyer to clarify prices, styles, and due date of order forms can be referenced on the information bulletin board located across the hall from classroom D-102.
· Any Questions about T-Shirt/Sweatshirt order forms can be directed towards Sabrina Marshall or one of the TSCCSNA officers.
Fundraisers:
-addressed by Treasurer, Sabrina Marshall
· Benefits of Fundraisers were broken down according to how gained funds will be divided which is as follows:
o 20% of the Profit of all fundraisers to Charity of Choice to be voted on by TSCCSNA
o 10% to the General Fund of TSCCSNA, used to assist with Graduation/Pinning of 4th semester level students and aide in the financial support of fundraisers that the TSCCSNA participates in each semester.
o The left over amounts of money profited by each fundraiser for the TSCCSNA will then be divided up equally to all members of the TSCCSNA according to participation in any one fundraiser.
o After each fundraiser, the Treasurer will send out individual emails to each participating TSCCSNA member that reflects money gained thru participation in the fundraiser and grand total of money they have earned at the current time of email.
o After consideration by the Dean of Nursing, Cindy Hall, student funds that have been earned by students of the Nursing Program who drop out/fail to meet passing requirements of the nursing program, will be placed into the general fund for all TSCCSNA students to use for graduation and fundraiser support.
· Discussion of 1st Fundraiser to be held:
o “Walking Taco” on October 4th between 10am-2pm, explained by President Angie Hoppes and Treasurer Sabrina Marshall. TSCCSNA will provide an option on Terra Campus for all students/faculty to buy a “Walking Taco” meal that will consist of snack size Dorito/Frito chip bag of choice, in which buyers will also have the option to add seasoned meat, and all the fixings of a taco per individual selection. Proceeds will go towards the breakdown of funds specified above.
o Donations of food supplies, willingness to advertise, work, and prepare the fundraiser were asked for, and noted to be available for sign-up at next TSCCSNA meeting September 19th, 2011.
· President Angie Hoppes Opened Discussion for Fundraiser Ideas, ideas attained from those attending both meeting dates included:
o Combination of Candy Bar/Sucker Sales including a Sugar Free Option of Candy/Sucker
o Candle Sales
o TSCCSNA T-Shirt/Sweatshirt Sales to the public
o Little Ceasar Pizza Kit Sales
o Cookie Dough Sales
o Donation Bake Sale
o 50/50 raffles
· Ideas for fundraisers will be discussed again and scheduled at next TSCCSNA meeting on Sept. 19th.
Charity of Choice:
-addressed by President Angie Hoppes
· Charity of Choice explained as what 20% of what all money generated from fundraisers will be delegated to go towards, and specified to be a charity that is based in Sandusky County. Discussion opened to those attending for ideas of Charity of Choice, ideas attained from those attending both meeting dates included:
o Sandusky County Humane Society
o Liberty Center of Fremont
o Fremont Soup Kitchen
o Sandusky County Chapter of the Red Cross
o Sandusky County Chapter of The United Way
o Scholarship in Memory of the grandson of Assistant Professor of Nursing Susan M. Kajfasz.
· Ideas for Charity of Choice to be voted on at next TSCCSNA meeting on Sept.19th.
Community Service Project:
-addressed by President Angie Hoppes
· Community Service Project explained as activity in which TSCCSNA participates in each semester as a way to give back to the community. Discussion opened to those attending for ideas of Community Service. Ideas attained from those attending both meeting dates included:
o Coat Drive
o Food Drive
o Clothing Drive
· Students are encouraged to think further about Community Service ideas and bring them to the agenda next meeting on Sept. 19th.
· Ideas for Community Service Projects to be voted on at next TSCCSNA meeting on Sept. 19th.
Mentor Program:
-addressed on Monday August 29th, by Vice President Kelly Baker.
-addressed on Tuesday August 30th, by President Angie Hoppes in the absence of Kelly Baker.
· Mentor Program explained as program designed to assist 1st and 2nd semester level students with questions and concerns by assigning them a “Big Brother or Big Sister” who can answer their questions or direct them to who they can contact for an accurate answer.
· Students in the 1st or 2nd semester who would like, but have not already signed up to be assigned a mentor are encouraged to email Kelly Baker at kbaker012@terra.edu.
· Student in the 3rd or 4th semester who would like, but have not already been assigned as a mentor for lower semester students are encouraged to email Kelly Baker at kbaker012@terra.edu.
· Emails will be sent out to those who have signed up to participate in the Mentor Program which will specify who your mentor is/who you are a mentor for.
Graduation:
-addressed by President Angie Hoppes
· Graduation/Pinning Ceremony for the Class of Fall 2011 will be held on December 17th, 2011 at a time to be specified at a later date.
· Nursing Pins for use at the Pinning Ceremony for the Class of Fall 2011 should have already been ordered in the College Bookstore.
· Applications for Graduation for the Class of Fall 2011 and the $35 dollar processing fee are due ASAP to the Cashier’s Office located on the second floor of Building A.
· Applications for Graduation for the Class of Spring 2012 and the $35 dollar processing fee are due by the end of October to the Cashier’s Office located on the second floor of Building A.
o Actual date at end of October to be looked up and announced at Sept. 19th TSCCSNA meeting.
Student/Faculty Concerns:
· Question raised by Faculty in attendance as to how the TSCCSNA would like their involvement or attendance at our monthly meetings.
o After open discussion by attendees and faculty, it was decided by TSCCSNA that Faculty members will attend first 10 minutes of each monthly meeting according to their schedule availability, and all student concerns directed towards faculty, or announcements by faculty will be addressed in that time being allotted.
· Question raised about Voting for TSCCSNA Officer/Class Representation to be addressed and gone about in different manner than how handled during previous semesters.
o After open discussion by attendees and faculty, it was decided that TSCCSNA constitution to be revised to include better means of voting on TSCCSNA officers/Class Representation.
o Those changes to the Constitution to be voted on next meeting on Sept. 19th.
· Concerns voiced over not being allowed to Eat/Drink in any classrooms located in the newly renovated Building D on Terra’s Campus.
o Dean Hall addressed student concern, stating that “due to brand new IT equipment located in Building D classrooms, IT has stated that to prevent damage by food/drink to the equipment, it is not allowed in classrooms.” It was also clarified that in the lounge areas of Building D, food/drink is permitted.
· Student voiced request for clarification over new policy pertaining to soft points versus exam points.
o Faculty as a whole addressed student concern. It was stated that they should have a been given a copy of the new policy in their Theory Lecture on the first day of class, as well as given opportunity to discuss and ask questions before signing and turning it in to their Theory professor.
o If still in need of copy of new policy, students were instructed to ask their Theory professor.
Next Monthly Meeting:
-addressed by President Angie Hoppes
· Next Monthly TSCCSNA meeting scheduled for Monday September 19th, 2011 at 11am in room D-102.
o Monthly TSCCSNA meetings will be rotated between Monday and Tuesday each month.

I was looking for the graduation application online and I can't find it. Does anyone happen to know where it's at so I can print it off? thanks!
i have a question about the shirts and hoodies, are they preshrunk? also does it cost extra for 2x?
I am looking into the preshrunk question; no it does not cost extra for the 2x sizes.
I could not locate the application for graduation on-line. The forms are availible in building A, second floor at the records desk. It is a $35 fee.
