Hi Everyone! Here is a quick recap of what happened at our first meeting for anyone who was unable to make it (or like me is just liable to forget).
The meeting took place at 2:30 p.m. with a brief discussion of this being a good time to have the meetings, all present said it was. Our President, Angie, will be posting the time and location for the next meeting as the time for it rolls around.
The Student Nurse Constitution is being sent out.
Due to time constraints Angie will not be able to send out mass e-mails to inform everyone of the latest happenings so for important information please refer to the blog, thank you :)
We are trying to decide on a charity to donate to for our fundraising activities. Some of the options are: NAMI, ABC for Cystic Fibrosis, The Village House in Fremont, The Alzheimer's association, and The American Cancer Society. We Are trying to keep our efforts local, and ultimately we can only pick one so any suggestions or input on the subject is welcome.
We are also brain storming on fundraising activities. So far we are planning a 50/50 raffle to get the ball rolling. Tickets will be available through your student representatives as the time is decided on. Again suggestions are welcome.
Susan Kajfasz is looking into affordable health insurance for the student nurses, so all those interested please see her (remember health insurance is required).
Susan Kajfasz has also placed a publication in the nursing labs, feel free to grab a few.
The student mentor program was also discussed. Some of the mentors have not yet been contacted by their assigned students. As a mentor I would like to say, you are not bothering us when you call. Each mentor signed up for the job knowing that we would be contacted with questions and concerns, so if you are having any please don't hesitate to call or e-mail your mentor. We can't give you all the answers but we are certainly willing to help :)
We are also taking recommendations for LPN and Fundamental student representatives, if you are interested let Angie know.
Have a nice day,
Kristen Fought, secretary
