Info on how Clinicals go.......

For clinical, you will have your own patient for the day. You will have to go to your site the day be for (the exact time all depends on your clinical instructor) and collect the information on your pt. If you are interested in the form I used when I collected my info, email me and I will send it to you (tanker7700@yahoo.com).
You will look up the medications the pt is on so you understand why they are taking them and what they are. I would recommend making drug cards for those medications from the very start. Many drugs you will see again, if not in the clinical site, then you will see it in your Pharmacology class when you have to make cards. If you make cards from the start it will save you lots and lots of time!!
Once all your info is collected you will then go home and look up all the info.
This will help you know what you will be doing when you take care of your patient. The more info you collect the more you will know for the next day.
I would highly recommend getting a folder/notebook for when you are at clinics. This is so you can bring your patient info with you and keep notes while you are caring for your pt. Becky uses a plastic folder thing that opens so she can store her papers in it, I used one I found from Drug Mart, I found a good one that I am going to use this year at Terra Bookstore....
Here is some pictures of what I'm talking about...The Terra one is only $2.99 at the bookstore.

I do not have classes on Mondays and I will be at Terra on Fridays. If anyone needs help understanding any of this once you get your paperwork, just let me know. I can come in and do what I can to help. Maybe explaining it more, and going through it with you will help more so it doesnt take you ALL night the day before your clinical.......remember to email me if you need to
