Terra graduates first class of nursing students

FREMONT --The nursing faculty and staff at Terra Community College are all smiles thanks to the college's first class of nursing graduates. All 19 of those who graduated in May have taken the National Council for Licensure and Examination which they must pass to practice nursing in Ohio.

In addition to passing the NCLEX as individuals, the College Nursing Program must meet a certain pass rate standard in order to continue operating the program.

Not only did Terra meet the standard, the college exceeded it.

To meet the standard, Terra nursing students as a whole had to pass the NCLEX on the first attempt at a rate of 95 percent of the National Norm. That rate for the calendar year 2008 was 85 percent. Terra's rate was 88 percent.

"The nursing program faculty and students certainly deserve to be proud of their first year accomplishments," said Susan Kajfasz, Director, Associate Degree Nursing Program. "We are extremely pleased."
