How long does it take to get a STNA certificate & how much does it cost & where do you go to get it, or how or whatever, I'm going effin nuts, and I need a job ASAP.
Terra is offering the classes coming up. Through the Kern center. I just got a catalog in the mail. I don't know the dates, but it cost 500 dollars. Then it cost like 100 dollars to take the test. They have evening classes.
I took a course through Ehove. It was 4 weeks long, 3 days a week. It included 2 "clinical" days. It cost me $525 for the class, and about $100 to take the state test. I've heard there are a few nursing homes that will pay for your class if you agree to work for a period of time for them. I've also heard that the Job Store will help with the program. They didn't help me, but all situations are different.
If you don't have time/money for that course you can look at the different hospital websites for job posting that you don't have to be certified in anything...swithchboard operator, hostess, laundry, housekeeping....
just wanted to let you know that the comment about a non certified job would probably be best now since you are in RN courses...and because by the end of summer you can apply for nurse intern jobs which pay more...but also...working as a new STNA doesn't pay much at all and it does cost a lot of $$ and some time..
sweet! i didnt know i'd be able to be a nurse intern so soon :), maybe i better hold out, cuz i cant fork out that kinda cash for stna lol, and i dont wanna quit school either
Intern pay is dependant on facility, it is usually around the same pay as a STNA or maybe a little more. I will say competion is high for those positions, so as soon as you hear of one go for it. I took my STNA at Ruffing in Tiffin and it cost $250.00 including books and exams. That was over a year ago. Two weeks and two days long. No way you could do it until you have a break. Also once you complete your first semester of clinicals you do not have to take the classes you can take the exam for around $90.00. You can also get a job as a companion for hospice without the exam after successful completion of your first semester. GOOD LUCK
