One of the most important things most of used was a digital recorder. The digital recorder does not substitute going to class but supplements your studying. We used them to listen to lectures during our workouts, washing dishes, driving to school, or whatever. It is just another good way to study. The instructors thus far have not had any problem with us using them, but make sure to get the go ahead before you record.
