Inspiration

Every once in awhile I run into a situation or hear something that doesn't quite mean much at the time, but after I sit and reflect on it for awhile it takes on a whole new meaning for me. That situation took place on July 9th at Bellevue hospital while I was doing my Peds rotation. The charge nurse was talking to another nurse about what it is like to have students in the ER and how helpful we can be. She spoke of the nursing student that was there the week before us and how wonderful she was. The ER was full that day and there was alot to be done. This student worked her behind off and according to this nurse they couldn't have done it without her. She said she was ready and willing to do anything and everything they asked her do. That student was Carrie Broski.

After thinking about it later on it got me to thinking and for anyone who knows me, knows that can be a dangerous thing. We have an unique opportunity to really make an impact and show the medical community what an outstanding school Terra is. The way we perform at clinicals and the attitude we display can set us apart from the other schools. I was reminded that even though we are students these nurses and doctors will remember us and when it comes to time to get a job they could be the ones hiring us. I asked myself this simple question based on what I think of my performance what would the medical personal think of me? That question has me even more determined to do the best I can do everytime I'm in my uniform and representing not only my school, but myself.

The conclusion to this blog is this: First and foremost work hard for yourself, your family, and your career because that is why we all here and secondly for your school and classmates. Those who came before us have set the standards and those who come behind us will work hard to keep the standards high. Thanks to Carrie for setting the bar high at Bellevue!

Thank you Karena for sharing this. I didn't realize that they would even remember who I was. That was very nice to read that I had made such a great impression.
I am thankful for the opportunity to make their days easier.
